Kate & Derek
Kate and Derek were immediately fun. Of course, with me, if you show up with a dog, I basically want to be your photographer for life. Striker was as cute as they come, and just as photogenic as mom and dad. THEN Kate pulled a fast one on me. I didn't get to talk to her much before our shoot, so when we started shooting I asked how Derek proposed. Kate, without skipping a beat, came up with this pretty epic story about how she had actually proposed to him. And well, I totally believed her (mostly because Derek already wears his ring!). Gullible... who, me? They were 2/2.
Of course, Derek had actually proposed during a cuddle session, which couldn't be any sweeter. (Take note, future husband of mine.)
So, they're 3/3 with that sweet proposal, and then we ended up with these lovely photos. Kate & Derek were trusting of what I asked of them, and I couldn't be happier with how the session went. We started in the late afternoon at Eden Gardens in South Walton, where we caught the beginning of the blooming Azaleas, and then moved to Seaside Beach on 30A, walking through the town (where they endured a rather chatty audience of people oooing-and-awwwing over them), my favorite bookstore, and then ending up on the beach at sunset.
One more thing I'd like to note- follow your dreams, folks. Kate and I had a moment to chat while Derek went to grab the extra outfits, and turns out, we both were able to grow up and do the job we dreamt of when we were kids. For me, that's always been photography, and for Kate, well, she is a badass pilot in the Air Force (actually they're both pilots!). If you love something enough, do everything you can to make it happen. You won't regret it. Dream big, follow your heart (and propose to that pretty lady- or gentleman- of yours, so we can take pretty pictures!). <3
